Aims and Goals#
This course will provide insights on how to analyse and understand OpenStreetMap data and make use of it for solving geographic questions. Theoretical content and research examples will be followed by hands-on session in QGIS and Python. Most exercises can be solved with QGIS. Python make things a bit easier. Hence, basic knowledge of Python is of advantage. However, if you are open-minded and familiar with QGIS, this will give you a good start already.

Download and filter OSM data using different approaches appropriate to the scale of your analysis.
Understand and analyse aspects of OSM’s data quality.
Combine OSM data and other datasets in your analysis workflows.
Use OSM data for accessibility Analysis.
Utilize public APIs in your geospatial analysis workflows.
